About Hoops Menu
Hoops Menu is a curated basketball schedule desk. It answers one question — what's worth watching tonight — rather than trying to be a stats encyclopedia. It covers the NBA, the WNBA, the G League, and the summer leagues (Summer League, Cal Classic, Utah SL) on one board.
How it's made
Every game gets its own interest score, built from the matchup and the schedule — how close the teams are, who's hot, who's hurt, how far each side traveled to get there. The full method is public at How we score games.
The schedule itself gets the same treatment: travel miles, rest days, back-to-backs — the context a box score never shows. That's the travel desk, and its dataset is public too, documented at /data/travel.
Scores and blurbs start as machine drafts from official NBA and WNBA stats feeds and ESPN's public feeds. I review them before publication. Scores and standings update as games go final.
Who's behind it
I'm Ben Weisel. I build and run Hoops Menu myself — the pipeline, the site, and the nightly curation — as an independent project, not a company.
Hoops Menu is free to read. Create an account for a weekly email digest — that's the only thing behind a sign-in.
