Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account information: your email address, signup source, subscription status, and favorite-league preferences.
• Communications: information you include when you contact us about the Service or a privacy request.

Information collected automatically

• Authentication and security information: login request IP address, one-time authentication records, hashed session identifiers, session timestamps, and rate-limit data. Magic-link tokens and session identifiers are stored on our servers only as cryptographic hashes.
• Email delivery information: message identifiers and delivery events such as sent, bounced, or complained status.
• Site usage and technical information:our hosting and security providers may process information such as IP address, requested page, browser or device type, and request time in ordinary server logs. When enabled, Cloudflare Web Analytics provides cookie-free, aggregate page-view and performance measurements and states that it does not collect or use visitors' personal data.
• Theme preference: if you select light or dark mode, that choice is stored locally in your browser and is not added to your Hoops Menu account.

How we use information

We use information to:

• provide and maintain the Service;
• create and authenticate your account without a password;
• send the weekly digest and service-related messages;
• save your preferences and process unsubscribe requests;
• measure performance and understand aggregate site usage;
• prevent spam, abuse, fraud, and security incidents; and
• comply with law and enforce our Terms.

How we share information

We may share information with:

• Service providers that host the site and database, deliver email, provide analytics or security, and otherwise process information for us. These currently include Render, Resend, and Cloudflare.
• Authorities or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or respond to valid legal process.
• A successor organization in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or transfer of the Service, subject to this Policy or notice of any material change.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Hoops Menu may earn a commission when you follow certain ticket links, but we do not send your account information to the ticket seller. Once you follow an external link, that third party's privacy policy applies.

Cookies, local storage, and Do Not Track

When you sign in, we use a strictly necessary, HTTP-only session cookie so the Service can recognize your account. The cookie expires after 30 days. We use browser local storage only to remember your theme choice. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies. We do not use advertising cookies or track your activity across unrelated sites, so browser Do Not Track signals do not change our practices. Third parties may collect information under their own policies after you choose to visit their sites.

Data retention

We keep account information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, honor unsubscribe choices, resolve disputes, maintain security, and meet legal obligations. Authentication links and codes become unusable after 15 minutes, and sessions expire after 30 days. Retention periods for security logs, email delivery records, and backups may vary based on operational and legal needs. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it where reasonably practicable.

Your choices and privacy rights

You can change your digest and favorite-league preferences on the account page. Every weekly digest includes an unsubscribe method. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to appeal a response to a request. To make a request, email us at the address below. We may need to verify that you control the relevant email account before completing it.

Children's privacy

The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us so we can delete it.

Security and international processing

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no Internet service is completely secure. Hoops Menu is operated in the United States, and information may be processed and stored in the United States or other places where our service providers operate.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as the Service or law changes. We will post the revised Policy here and update its effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information already collected, we will provide additional notice when appropriate.
